Shype's News

So when I initially joined NewGrounds, I joined it as a place to share some of my new music after moving from YouTube. I didn't have any kind of intent to share anything else of mine, but after a bit of thinking, I figure it wouldn't hurt to also share some of the pixel art I make on occasion as well.

Of course, I'll always be posting them to my instagram first, and you can feel free to check it out if you want to see some of my other art, but posting here might be fun as well.

I usually make pixel art of various styles, anything from retro NES type of stuff to whatever other kinds of styles I feel like doing, though I mostly like to go for more of a Generation 4-5 Pokémon kind of artstyle.

So, since joining, I've been posting a couple of older songs of mine that I created before I joined this website, and though I only posted just a couple, it's nowhere near how many songs I've made in the past.

I won't be posting a lot of older songs of mine considering I feel like I've improved a lot since making them, and to post old music that I don't consider being that good wouldn't really work for me.

I might post some more old songs, but for the time being, I'll be posting brand new songs I've never put anywhere else on the internet, and that includes music for my own characters and stories!

For a long while now, I've been developing a sort of "universe" of characters, and I love to create music for these characters as well as some pixel art. Think Dungeons and Dragons but with more planets and aliens.

You might see me posting some of these songs here, as I want to show others what the music is, and perhaps gain a bit of feedback on them.

My newest song I've created at the time of this news post, is the song for my character "The Crimson Knight."

I won't say too much about him considering a lot of my universe's characters and stories are mostly private for the time being until I can make something of them, but I can say that this guy is meant to come off as a sort of villain.

I'm not sure what else to write right now, but I thought I'd write something though to update how I'm doing.

I've known about this website for many years, and as a kid, I'd check it out now and again whenever I had the chance, but I never really made an account until a few years ago, to which I didn't do anything.

Through those years however, I've picked up some hobbies such as creating Pixel Art, and making music, and I started posting them on YouTube and Instagram.

Recently YouTube started going about doing things that I don't really like, not to mention their copyright bots are a real pain in the behind, so I left it altogether and decided to find a place I can just share my music in peace.

I looked all over the internet. I looked at places like Soundcloud, which seemed nice, but somewhat limited. I looked at other places that offered music uploading, but it was all for commercial stuff, paying to upload my music and then I start making money in the process. Sure that sounds like a good thing, making money off of my hobbies, but I don't want that!

I'm someone who believes in making music and pixel art as a passion, and I won't sell anything unless I put a tremendous amount of time into it.

Most of my music isn't the most professional sounding, just about everything I know about making music and music theory is self-taught. This also applies to pixel art too, almost everything there was learned through trial and error as well.

But anyway, I digress. I was looking for a site to upload my music when I suddenly remembered something.

I remembered Newgrounds. I used to go here as a kid, like I said, and I'd always play the games, watch the animations, listen to the music, and it was great.

Then I thought, I could upload my own music here as well. I honestly don't care to make any money off of it, and I'd be happy if people would want to use it in things (with proper credit given of course), because I love seeing what people can create, and to be someone to have contributed to another's desire to create is pretty amazing.

I don't make music too often as it's a pretty big challenge each time, but it's a fun one and I hope to create things that people would enjoy.

I will likely be uploading a few older tracks of mine I originally had on YouTube that I thought turned out pretty good, but you'll have to remember that they're probably pretty old and definitely not the best that I think I can do.

Even if my music barely even gets seen, I'm totally fine with that too. If no one cares about it, sure!

I mostly want a place to put my music to have online and maybe share with friends.

Anyway, it's been fun coming back to this place after a long while, and I hope to meet some people here and share my passion for music.

Also, if you're for some reason interested in my Pixel Art, I do have my Instagram account linked in my profile. I won't be posting my pixel art here as I already have that covered there, this is primarily for my music.
